I found out I was pregnant just after Thanksgiving, Mr. S was actually away on a work trip, when it clicked for me that I had missed my period. So after a class I was teaching (I use to teach fitness classes 😳💪🏻), I stopped at CVS, grabbed a few tests and low and behold, I was pregnant.
I tried to find a fun way to tell the hubs. We had just gotten our Christmas tree and I was decorating the house, so I grabbed a mini stocking and stuck the pregnancy test, with a little binky that say “I love Daddy” and hung it with our stockings. Dude! He didn’t even see it! After doing things around the house allllllllll day long, and finally crashing on the couch, he didn’t see it! I finally had to point it out to him.
I sadly wasn’t able to get an ultrasound appointment with my OB until January.
The day finally came, and it was the longest day ever. Our appointment was late in the afternoon, and the doctor we were seeing was running late. We finally get brought into a room and he comes in to start everything. Then, in the quietest, little mouse voice, he says
“oh look at that, there’s two.”
The hubs and I just stared at each other for a few, very quiet minutes. And of course, the Dr. had problems trying to get use an ultrasound picture, so just about every nurse come into the room, excited and congratulating us, and we had no words. We were in complete and utter shock.
Well, that changed the course of everything. The room we had talked about using, no longer big enough. The maybe waiting until delivery to find out gender, out the window (I’m a planner and I could not plan a room for two not knowing genders). We even kind of stopped talking about the babies for like a week or so, because we were both in so much shock that we needed to process it.

Yes, twins run in both my husband’s and my families. Yes, they were conceived naturally.
