So we did it again. We started a very small garden last summer during the pandemic, like many others I’m sure. You can read about it here.
Well this year, I wanted to go a little bit bigger. Mr. S found a local carpenter who built us two planter boxes. We loaded them up and are growing our second garden. Does this officially make us gardeners?
The planters got delivered on a Thursday evening, and Friday morning, the two littles and I were outside moving dirt and filling those bad larrys up. Yes, little Mr. has his own little wheelbarrow that he kept filling up and bringing over to the boxes.
We took a little lunch break, then got back out there and got to digging. We planted all of our herbs, veggies, and fruits. We have quite a few things growing this year. We’re testing out some new things for the first time, and growing some staples that we loved and did well with last year.
This years crops include;
▪️ two types of large tomatoes ▪️ two types of grape tomatoes ▪️ basil ▪️ mint ▪️ dill ▪️ parsley ▪️ red pepper ▪️ cucumbers ▪️ green peas ▪️ strawberries ▪️ romaine lettuce ▪️ chives
We also still have our rose bush, which is blooming a crazy amount of roses this year compared to last year. We still have our apple tree, which will hopefully give us more apples this year. Lastly, our blueberry bush too. We relocated the blueberry bush because it was getting to big for it’s pot so hopefully it will thrive again and produce plenty of blueberries this year.
Since we planted, we have seen some pea pods start growing. A few strawberries are turning red. The herbs have all been thriving, and little Ms. is eating straight up basil and mint like its no big deal. We’ve also have a handful of grape tomatoes forming and growing. I’d say we’re off to a great start.
