Like every couple, Mr. S and I had the talk about how many kids we wanted, did we really want kids, when would be a good time to have kids… the typical stuff.
However, shortly after we got married (8 months to be exact), we found out I had MS. That put a little bit of a halt on a lot of things in our life. One of my first concerns was, whether I could still have kids. I didn’t know a whole lot about MS at the time, but it was a big fear I had, all of a sudden.
Long story short, we could and it would be safe for me to do so, with some planning. The treatment I had started for my MS wasn’t safe to be on during pregnancy. So we needed to plan when I was going to come off all my medications I was on. Since we had to plan for these things, we kind of go to decide when we wanted to deliver. Both Mr. and I have spring birthdays, and being a teacher, I wanted a late spring or summer baby.
We got very lucky, in that we got pregnant pretty fast. I found out I was pregnant right after Thanksgiving in 2016.

It is believed that your MS isn’t as active or affected by your pregnancy because of all the extra hormones your body is producing. However, studies have shown that there is a higher risk of having a relapse after delivery. It’s also believed that breastfeeding also helps keep your MS at bay.
Thankfully, my pregnancy, MS wise, was good. My symptomes stayed away. I never relapsed. I was able to breastfeed my kiddos for as long as I could keep up with two.
